Day 1: Istanbul

Welcome to Istanbul! Today you shall be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is spent at leisure.

Day 2: Istanbul

Today you shall go on a half day cruise of the Bosphorus. Probably one of the most famous waterways in the world, the Bosphorus Strait forms the boundary between Europe and Asia. It also splits Istanbul neatly in two, making it the only city in the world to straddle two continents. Later today, we drive to the Golden Horn.

Day 3: Istanbul

Enjoy half day tour of the Dolmabahce Palace. Set on the shores of the Bosphorus River. Constructed in the 19th century, this opulent palace was at the centre of the Ottoman Empire in its final years, and home to the last Ottoman Sultan. Marvel at the extravagant decor, high ceilings and twinkling chandeliers of the Medhal Hall; find out how the Crystal Staircase got its name; and wander around the lavish Secretariat’s Room. Plus ask your guide why all the clocks in the palace have been stopped at the same time.

Day 4: Istanbul

Today you will enjoy a full day guided tour of Istanbul. You will visit the Blue Mosque, The Topkapı Palace, Roman Hippodrome and the Grand Bazaar which includes over 4000 shops! The Blue Mosque is so named due to the blue tiles that line the walls.

Day 5: Istanbul - Canakkale

Our first destination is Gallipoli where we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the historical battlefields, taking in Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair and other memorials, the trenches and of course – ANZAC Cove.

Day 6: Canakkale

Today we will visit some of the other battlefields including Suvla Bay, Hill 60, Scrubby Knoll (Kemal Yeri) and Hill 971.

Day 7: Canakkale - Kusadasi

Today, we continue to Troy. The legend of the lost city and Homer’s ‘The Iliad’ was bought alive by it’s rediscovery in 1863. Subsequent excavations revealed nine ancient cities, one on top of the other, dating back to 3000 BC. We enjoy a tour of the ruin and view a replica of the stoic Trojan wooden horse. Then, onto explore the ruins of Pergamum with it’s steep hillside amphitheatre (good photo call) and neighbouring asclepion (ancient medical centre). Driving south, we arrive at the Aegean coastal town of Kusadasi.

Day 8: Kusadasi

Today you will enjoy a full day tour of Ephesus. This classical city is extremely well preserved. Ephesus is a sacred site for Christians due to the association with several biblical figures, including St. Paul, and the Virgin Mary. Some highlights within the Old Graeco Roman City include house of Virgin Mary and The Basilica of St John.

Day 9: Kusadasi - Pamukkale

Driving east, a short stop is made at a leather factory before arriving at Pamukkale - famed for its unique cascades of natural mineral rich pools. Here we can paddle our feet in the warm water flowing over the terraces or perhaps opt for a swim at the Pamukkale Thermal Baths.

Day 10: Pamukkale - Cappadocia

Today, we travel north-east to the famed fairy castles of Cappadocia. En route we break at Konya and visit the Mevlana Whirling Dervish Museum and an old caravanserai in Sultanhani.

Day 11: Cappadocia

A guided tour of the region takes us to the World Heritage listed Goreme Valley were we'll see stunning examples of rock-cut Byzantine churches, chapels and temples and Zelve with its phallic-like eroded landscape of so-called 'fairy chimenys'.

Day 12: Cappadocia - Istanbul

Today, we return to Istanbul via Ankara, the nation’s capital. Here, we visit the mausoleum of Atatürk - the founding father of modern Turkey. Arriving Istanbul late evening, we check into our hotel.

Day 13: Istanbul

Today we bid you farewell and transfer you to the airport for your onward flight home.
