Day 1: Istanbul

Welcome to magnificent Turkey and the start of a truly epic adventure. Upon arrival we will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel for the evening.

Day 2: Istanbul

This morning you set off for a city tour of the old part of Istanbul, once known as the great city of Constantinople. You will visit the Byzantine Hagia Sofya with its massive main dome that dominates the area. Topkapi Palace located on the tip of the old city and commanding extraordinary views over the water was once the seat of parliament for the Ottoman regime and was built during 1459 to 1465. And of course a visit to Istanbul would not be complete without a visit to the world renowned Blue Mosque with its six minarets. Construction began in 1609 and the name ‘Blue Mosque’ is derived from the over 20 000 blue Iznik tiles adorning the walls of the interior

Day 3: Istanbul

Today, enjoy a visit to the Egyptian Spice market (stock up on bargain saffron, spices and Turkish delight here!) before enjoying a cruise on the Bosphorus, the body of water that separate European from Asian Istanbul. En route a visit is made to Rumeli Fortress, built in just 4 months in 1452 by Mehmet the Conqueror in preparation of his planned siege of Byzantine Constantinople. Enjoy lunch. Later, a visit to Beyerbeyi Palace in all its sultanate splendour and a chance to take in stunning views atop the city’s highest point - Buyuk Camlica. Remains of day free.

Day 4: Istanbul - Canakkale

Early this morning we travel to the WW1 battlefields of Gallipoli. Here, we’ll embark upon a guided tour of the region. Our guided tour of the region will take in sights such as ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine Australian War Memorial and cemetery, Chunuk Bair New Zealand War Memorial and cemetery, the Nek, Johnston’s Jolly and the many fortified trenches still clearly visible amongst the scrub after all these years. Crossing the Dardenelles by ferry (offering panoramic views of the entire Gallipoli Peninsular) we proceed to our hotel for a little rest and relaxation, waterside.

Day 5: Canakkale - Kusadasi

At Troy (the inspiration for Homer's Illiad and much more recently the movie Troy) we visit the Trojan Horse and ruins. We enjoy a guided tour of the ancient city that dates back to 3000BC! En route to Kusadasi, we explore the ruins of Pergamum with it's impressive temples, library and medical facilities which made it a famous cultural and political centre of it's time.

Day 6: Kusadasi

Today, we enjoy a guided tour of the legendary Roman ruins of Ephesus. Positively the best preserved classical city in the eastern Mediterranean, Ephesus, under the Romans, was a vast city with a population nearing 250,000 and became the Roman Capital of Asia Minor. It revelled in it's prosperity from commerce and visiting pilgrims who came to see the great Temple of Artemis - one of the Seven Ancient Wonders. Exemplifying the finesse of Roman urban life, Ephesus boasts carefully restored elements including a Great Theatre, Curetes Way, the Temple of Serapis and the Library of Celsus. Stop by the ancient public toilets and public brothel! Later we visi the quaint Greek village of Sirince peached mountainside within a valley of vineyards and orchards.

Day 7: Kusadasi - Pamukkale

Meandering through the sweeping plains and endless cotton farms we arrive at the ruins of Roman Hieropolis and the hot springs of Pamakkule. Admire this surreal landscape created by frequent earthquakes in the fault depression of the Menderes river basin. Marvel at the crystalline marble, quartzites and stalagtites, which shimmer in the sunlight. There will be time to paddle our feet as you walk the terraces or opt for a dip in the thermal baths.

Day 8: Pamukkale - Marmaris

Today we travel onto Marmaris with the remainder of the day free.

Days 9-15: Marmaris

Today our arrangements end after breakfast.

Day 16: - Cappadocia

Today we will transfer you up from the Marmaris port and transfer you to Dalaman airport for your flight to Kayseri. Upon arrival we will transfer you to your cave hotel for the evening.

Day 17: Cappadocia

Today we tour the stunning Cappadocia region - an extraordinary national treasure. guided tour of the region includes the World Heritage Listed Goreme Valley to see stunning examples of rock-cut Byzantine churches and chapels, Kaymaki Underground City and Uchisar Castle. Stopping on the outskirts of Goreme Village we have the opportunity to see Pigeon Valley where century’s old pigeon houses are carved into the surrounding cliffs, the pigeon droppings that litter the area have been used as fertilizer on crops for generations.

Day 18: Cappadocia

Sadly your last day with us as we transfer you to Kayseri airport for your flight to istanbul. End of arrangements.
