Turkey Tours and Holidays

Turkey Travel with On The Go Tours

All our tours of Turkey kick off in Ottoman Istanbul - a fascinating city to explore and the only city in the world to straddle two continents. With landmarks such as the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the Roman ruins of Ephesus and Pergamum, the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia and the calcium deposits forming the ‘Cotton Castles’ of Pamukkale, Turkey is an extraordinary holiday destination. Add to that the sparkling coast of Fethiye, the battlefields and memorials of Gallipoli, and you have a host of great reasons to visit this amazing country.

My husband & I had a marvellous experience, the places we saw were interesting and our guide Emrah was outstanding”

Had a wonderful time in Turkey. Although there was some initial concern about the safety of travelling , to Instanbul in particular, I had no such concerns on arriving. The Turkish people were very friendly , the food was amazing and the sights were unbelievable.

Our guide was exceptional , with a dry sense of humor and excellent knowledge of the sites we visited. In particular our hot air balloon over the Goreme Valley in Cappodocia was truly amazing.”

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Turkey. Our guide Reggie was most personable, approachable and knowledgeable. Small tour group of about 12 made for a good group who travelled well together through some spectacular historic sights. Hotels were of an excellent standard and we were most appreciative of a temporary room in Pammukkale, to have a quick shower and ready ourselves for a pick up to the Denizli International Airport . Hotels were generally within easy walking distance to the town and restaurants. We were given enough time to walk around the sights but would have liked have more time at Ephesus. We found the travel times between sights a little long, but understand this was beyond OTG's control. This would be a factor in choosing land tours in the future. All in all a great tour and we would certainly consider booking with OTG in the future. Thank you Reggie for a memorable tour of Turkey ”

Turkey Map

Recommended places to visit in Turkey

Turkey has more architectural wonders than you can shake a Fez hat at from Roman ruins to grand Ottoman palaces with a healthy does of gorgeous coastline and natural wonders. To get you started here's some of the top sites we recommend in Turkey.

Cappadocia - Lunar Landscape

View on map
Hot air ballooning | Cappadocia | Turkey

Every trip to Turkey really should include Cappadocia. The bizarre rock formations of Turkey’s Central Anatolia are famous the world over. Fairy-like chimneys tower over the special landscape and the Goreme Open Air Museum is a must see. The site is particularly spectacular first thing in the morning when you can opt to take an unforgettable balloon ride over the area.

Konya - Whirling Dervishes

View on map

Konya is a mystical city, home to the magical whirling dervishes, a member of the Sufi faith who wear a long white dress and spin in circles for 15 minutes at a time. The town is deeply historical, the site of a number of ancient settlements and civilisations though nowadays, Konya is recognised for its strong economy and respected university, giving the town a unique blend of history and modernity.

Kusadasi - Coastal Resort

View on map
Kusadasi waterfront

With around 300 days of sunshine per year, it’s little surprise that Kusadasi is such a popular beach holiday destination. There are a number of wonderful restaurants and bars all over the city as well as stunning beaches making it a fantastic place for those seeking a mix of relaxation and excitement. It is also well situated for those seeking to explore the incredible, ancient city of Ephesus, which was built by the Greeks in 10th century BC.

Oludeniz - Blue Lagoon

View on map
Oludeniz beach

Blended with turquoise and aqua marine, it is easy to see why Oludeniz, a stunning secluded bay on a beautiful blue lagoon is one of the most photographed beaches in Turkey. Construction is prohibited here and it is also a national nature reserve so it is one of Turkey’s best beaches to visit. Paragliding is a big thing here and it gives you a fantastic view of the bay from the air.

Pamukkale - Cotton Castles

View on map
Pamukkale | Turkey

One of Turkey’s most famous sites, Pamukkale is another wonder of nature. Calcium rich mineral waters have cascaded over the cliff’s edge creating these amazing travertines. A quick dip in the warm soothing waters is a must – most hotels in the area take advantage of this geothermal wonderland and have naturally heated pools as wonderful spa facilities.

Istanbul - Ottoman Capital

View on map
Hagia Sofia | Istanbul | Turkey

The gateway to the east and most people’s starting point in Turkey. Istanbul is a city that needs little introduction – spanning both Europe and Asia it is one of the world’s most fascinating cities with one of the most beautiful harbours. With minarets gleaming in the sunshine and the sound of the call to prayer ringing across the city – it is a place not to be missed.

Turkey Travel Advice:

We keep a close eye on the latest travel updates to Turkey and follow the advice of the British Foreign Office. The safety of our travellers is paramount and we recommend that you check the latest travel updates from the relevant advisory body in your country prior to travel.

Due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East region, travel advice to Turkey does change from time to time. The FCO has recently placed travel restrictions to Eastern Turkey, specifically the region bordering Syria, and due to this travel advice we are no longer offering touring arrangements to this area of Turkey. Our standard tours to Turkey remain unaffected and the main tourist sites of Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and the Aegean coastline are considered safe to visit.
