Day 1: Hanoi

Good morning Vietnam! Upon arrival at Hanoi Airport you will be met and transferred to your city centre hotel. Known as the ‘Paris of the Orient’, Hanoi is the charming capital and cultural heart of Vietnam. Spend the remains of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Hanoi

This morning we set out to explore Ba Dinh Square where silent sentries guard the marble and granite mausoleum where Ho Chi Minh lies in state. After, we visit the world famous One Pillar Pagoda and Temple of Literature. In the afternoon explore the tree-lined streets of Hanoi, resplendent with French colonial architecture, including the Opera House and pass by the scenic Hoan Kiem Lake en route to the History and Fine Arts Museums. Then take a walk through the winding and bustling streets of the atmospheric Ancient Quarter (otherwise known as the 36 Streets).

Day 3: Hanoi - Halong Bay

Early this morning journey north to Halong Bay (approx 4 hours drive), stopping for refreshments en route. UNESCO Listed Halong Bay is undoubtedly one of Vietnam's most spectacular regions. Thousands of karst limestone and jungle covered peaks and isles, rise dramatically out of the emerald waters of the bay. Spend the day cruising around the islands onboard a traditional Junk boat. Stopping to explore caves and coves and to swim in the emerald waters. You can also take a row boat to visit the floating fishing village of Vung Vieng - where you'll gain a fascinating insight into the daily life of the local people. Enjoy a scrumptious buffet lunch and set dinner whilst onboard.

Day 4: Halong Bay - Hue

Enjoy fresh air and the gentle breeze of the bay this morning as you relax on board the Junk. There will be more opportunities to swim and explore hidden caves before returning to port. Transfer back to Hanoi airport for your flight to Hue in central Vietnam. Upon arrival in Hue, you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 5: Hue

Enjoy a full day tour of Hue including a boat trip on Perfume River (Huong River) to Thien Mu Pagoda and Minh Mang tomb. Thien Mu Pagoda is an octagonal tower of seven tiers that rises majestically over the Perfume River. Minh Mang tomb is perhaps the most majestic of all Hue’s tombs. This tomb is well known for its harmonious blend of architecture and natural landscape, and it's the ideal location for a picnic lunch. After lunch venture to Emperor Tu Duc and Khai Dinh’s tomb. Back to the hotel

Day 6: Hue - Hoi An

Hue - Hoi An. This morning journey overland to Hoi An via spectacular Cloudy Pass and stop in Danang to visit the Cham Museum, once centre of the ancient Cham civilization. UNESCO Listed Hoi An is a former merchant trading post, famed for its beautifully preserved Chinese, Japanese and European architecture. Picturesque Hoi An has managed to retain its traditional character and charm, with its cobbled streets, markets and row upon row of tailors shops. This afternoon, enjoy a walking tour around the cobbled streets of this ancient town, which was once of the busiest trading ports in Asia.

Day 7: Hoi An - Saigon

Free day to self explore Hoi An town or beach relax. Take a late afternoon flight to Hochiminh city. Transfer to hotel and relax. Overnight – Hochiminh city

Day 8: Saigon

Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) is Vietnam's most lively, modern and cosmopolitan city. This afternoon enjoy an orientation tour of the city, visiting the former Presidential Palace which is now preserved as a museum and the History Museum. Then continue to Notre Dame, an impressive neo-Romanesque Cathedral, Hotel D’ville and Dong Khoi Street, formerly the center of haute couture is Saigon. Afternoon take a half day trip north west of Ho Chi Minh to the historic Cu Chi region and visit the vast underground network of tunnels built first as a defence against the French and later expanded during the American war. Here you will learn more about the Vietnam War and the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong.

Day 9: Saigon

Explore the beautiful Mekong Delta today! Early this morning drive to Cai Be and board a traditional Sampan boat at around 10:00am. First stop on your scenic Mekong Delta cruise, is the colourful floating market of Cai Be, where traders in barges full of fruits and vegetables sell there goods. Continue cruising along the scenic Mekong canals to Dong Hoa Hiep Island located between Vinh Long and Cai Be, where you will discover the rural lifestyle and daily activities of the delta inhabitants. After a tasty lunch at Le Longanier restaurant at La Residence de Phu An Resort, a superb Indochine style resort and a short walk along a narrow canal, your excursion ends mid-afternoon. Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City

Day 10: Saigon - Phan Thiet

After breakfast, transfer to Phan Thiet. Check in our hotel and relax Overnight – Phan Thiet at Anantara resort

Days 11-14: Phan Thiet

Next 5 days at leisure

Day 15: Phan Thiet

Breakfast and hotel check out. Arrangements end today with a transfer to Ho Chi Minh Airport for your onward flight home. End of services!
