Welcome to Saigon! You will be met at the airport for your group transfer to your hotel in Saigon. The rest of the day is free.
We depart from 8.30am from your hotel then visit to the Reunification Palace, the former palace of President Thieu and his predecessors. Nearby are the Post Office and the Notre Dame Cathedral, built between 1877 and 1883 and one of the city’s major landmarks. We continue to the War Remains Museum, where you can learn a lot about the Vietnam War. This afternoon is free for you to relax.
We depart at 8.30am from your hotel and visit the amazing Cu Chi Tunnels where we learn the first hand how the Viet Cong survived the extraordinary underground existence during the Vietnam war. The remainder of the day is free.
Today we tour the Cai Be colorful floating market, cruising among local barges full of fruits and vegetables, see some local home factories to discover traditional rice paste making, rice pop corn, coco candies, and longans drying process. A delicious lunch will await you at a superb Indochinese villa, Le Longanier. Then proceed the cruise to Dong Hoa Hiep. On the way, you will be able observe the typical Mekong delta rural life. We will proceed to Vinh Long, passing beautiful landscapes along Dong Phu canal, Binh Hoa Phuoc and An Binh islands famous for their fruit orchards. Stops on the way can be made at An Binh ancient Church or at Tam Ho bonsais garden. Later afternoon we transfer back to the hotel.
Transfer to the airport for flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival you will be picked up and enjoy a tour of Marble Mountain. Reaching the summit of Thuy Son Mountain (Mountain of Water), we enter the naturally formed grottoes-cum- Buddhist sanctuaries. The enormous cathedral like Huyen Khrong cave is illuminated by shards of light and the towering seated Buddha carved from the rock face is spectacular. We also visit a tailor in Hoi An.
This morning is at your leisure. We depart at 2.00P.M from your hotel in Hoi An. Enjoy a half day walking tour through the narrow winding streets of the Ancient Quarter, visiting Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Halls, the 200-year old Tam Ky ancestral house and the Japanese Bridge. After here, we will take a short boat ride to a nearby island to visit a handicraft village specializing in ceramics as well as the boat building yards.
Free morning. At 1.30pm we meet at the Hai Scout Café (). Visit Hoi An’s colourful market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. On arrival, we explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hrs – each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chef’s, before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese plate decoration. After the lesson, we sit down and eat exactly what we have cooked.
Today is sadly your last day with us with a group departure transfer to Da Nang international airport for flight back home
