Day 1: Hanoi

Good morning Vietnam! Upon arrival at Hanoi Airport you will be met and transferred to your city centre hotel. Known as the ‘Paris of the Orient’, Hanoi is the charming capital and cultural heart of Vietnam. Spend the remains of the day at leisure. Overnight Celia Hotel.

Day 2: Hanoi

This morning visit Ba Dinh Square where silent sentries guard the marble and granite mausoleum where Ho Chi Minh lies in state. After visit Ho Chi Minh humble house of stilts and the famous One Pillar Pagoda and Temple of Literature. Later, we visit the Museum of Ethnology. After a delicious lunch we return to Hanoi and visit Hoan Kiem Lake and have a cyclo (rickshaw) tour of the winding alleys that make up the atmospheric Ancient Quarter, otherwise known as the 36 Streets of Hanoi. This evening enjoy dinner before attending a traditional Vietnamese water puppet performance. Overnight Celia Hotel.

Day 3: Hanoi - Mai Chau

This morning transfer into the lush mountains, which are home to remote hill tribes, such as the White Thai, H'mong, Zao, Muong, Tay, Hoa and Viet, and visited by surprisingly few tourists. Arriving at your lodge at noon, check-in and have lunch. This afternoon we have an insightful cycling tour through the valley visiting ethnic minority tribes and taking in the gorgeous scenery. Back at the lodge, enjoy a tasty dinner and a traditional dance performance.

Day 4: Mai Chau

After breakfast we start with a visit to the Mo Luong Cave. We then take a walk to nearby Hmong Villages, to see traditional village life and meet the locals who are warm and welcoming. Lunch can be a picnic or back at the lodge, this afternoon you have a bit of time free to take in your lovely surroundings.

Day 5: Mai Chau

After breakfast, you can take a walk to two nearby Thai villages - Pom Coong and Lac, to see traditional village life and meet the locals who are warm and welcoming, and famous for their handicrafts - particularly embroidery. Lunch is served back at the lodge before returning to Hanoi late afternoon.

Day 6: Mai Chau - Halong Bay

This morning we transfer to Halong City, the drive takes about 4 hours, stopping off for a refreshment break en route. Upon arrival meet the crew of your traditional Junk boat at the dock and embark upon a scenic cruise to the famous limestone peaked islands of Halong Bay and on to Bai Tu Long Bay which is every bit as beautiful as Halong. Aside from the cave visit and swimming, there is also a chance to explore this stunning area by sea kayak. Returning back to the Junk for a scrumptious dinner. Overnight Hai Long Junk.

Day 7: Halong Bay

Wake up to spectacular views of the bay. Spend another day cruising in Halong Bay. We cruise through various villages, with stops made for swimming, snorkelling, canoeing etc. Overnight Hai Long Junk.

Day 8: Halong Bay - Hanoi

Enjoy fresh air and the gentle breeze of the bay this morning as you relax aboard the Junk. There will be more opportunities to swim and explore hidden caves before returning to port. We later transfer back to Hanoi arriving in the afternoon at around 3pm. Overnight Celia Hotel.

Day 9: Hanoi

Spend the day at your leisure to explore the city at your own pace. Overnight Celia Hotel.

Day 10: Hanoi

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
