Day 1: Hanoi

Good morning Vietnam! Upon arrival at Hanoi Airport you will be met and transferred to your city centre hotel. Known as the ‘Paris of the Orient’, Hanoi is the charming capital and cultural heart of Vietnam. Spend the remains of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Hanoi - Sapa

In the morning, enjoy a guided city tour of Hanoi, including the Ho Chi Minh complex Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum & Museum, then see the Presidential Palace, the One Pillar pagoda and a visit to the Temple of Literature. Later we have a one hour cycling around the Old Quarter, a traditional water puppet show and a walk along Hoan Kiem Lake. This evening at approx 19:40, board an overnight express sleeper train from Hanoi to the border town of Lao Cai (shared 4 berth cabin).

Day 3: Sapa

The train pulls into Lao Cai this morning, transfer to Sapa for breakfast. This morning take a light trek to the hill tribe villages of Cat Cat, Y Linh Ho and Ta Van. Walking to the villages nestled in the valley below Sapa, you meet some of the local ethnic minority people on their way to and from Sapa. These minority people, including the Red Zao, Hmong and Tay people, walk to Sapa to trade at the markets. Tonight you spend the night at a homestay in Ta Van.

Day 4: Sapa

Spend the day with our expert guide trekking to the remote villages of Giang Ta Chai and Su Pan. Where there are local houses on stilts, terrace fields as well as great mountain views along your way. Enjoy a second night with a host family to learn all about their culture and customs.

Day 5: Sapa

We make our way trekking back to Sapa. We start with trekking through Ban Khuang where you have chance to see how local people feed the salmon. Arriving into Ta Phin, there are bikes waiting for you to ride back on the main road heading to Sapa with stops made along the way as you wish.

Day 6: Sapa - Hanoi

Spend the day at leisure in Sapa before returning to Lao Cai to board the overnight shared 4 berth train back to Hanoi.

Day 7: Hanoi - Halong Bay

Upon arrival in Hanoi, freshen up before driving to Halong City (approx 4 hours), stopping for refreshments en route. At UNESCO Listed Halong Bay limestone peaks and forest clad islets, hidden coves and beautiful beaches await discovery! Board your Junk boat and cruise to the famous islands of Halong Bay and onto Bai Tu Long Bay, stopping to visit a cave and swim in the warm waters. There is a chance to explore more this stunning area by sea kayak. Return to the Junk boat for a tasty dinner and a memorable night in beautiful surrounds.

Day 8: Halong Bay

Wake up to see a spectacular sunrise over the bay! Today enjoy the day sailing in Halong Bay with guided kayaking tours, swimming in remote bays, visit Sung Sot Cave and more.

Day 9: Halong Bay - Hanoi

This morning after breakfast you can hike up Titop Mountain or swim near Soi Sim beach. Cruising back to the dock arrive into Halong City around noon then transfer back to Hanoi and check into your hotel.

Day 10: Hanoi

Sadly your journey has reached its conclusion, we will transfer you to Hanoi airport in time for your flight home.
