Pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City at 8.30am and transfer to Can Tho. Board Bassac and cruise towards Cho Lach on the Tien Giang river while enjoying lunch on the upper deck. We will visit a village on the bank of Co Chien, an opportunity to appreciate the way of life of the local inhabitants. The crew will serve dinner while the Bassac is cruising through Mang Thit river.
Rise to the bustling sounds of Mekong river life. At 6.30am the boat will depart towards Cai Be. Enjoy breakfast while cruising the canals amongst the bustling morning river life. The Bassac cruises along the Mekong through sand and rice barges, fruit drying facilities and wooden ship building yards before arriving in Cai Be. We then board a local boat for a tour of Cai Be floating market and handicraft villages. Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City for the night
Today is free for you to continue exploring this city your way. Saigon (or Ho Chi Minh City as it is officially known) is the vibrant, cosmopolitan hub of Vietnam and the original ‘Pearl of the Orient’. In this thriving metropolis, old and new collide. Gleaming sky scrapers, expensive restaurants, bars and designer shops, stand in stark contrast to the ancient pagodas, colonial era landmarks, ramshackle markets and wandering monks. A UNESCO Listed Hoi An in central Vietnam is a historic, former merchant trading post, famed its beautifully preserved Old Town, with distinctive architecture, ancient cobbled streets and picturesque riverside location. The influence of past traders from Japan, China and Europe is evident in Hoi An, whose backstreets are lined with large, attractive merchant houses and pagodas. Overnight Hoi An.
Today we take the scenic Hai Van Pass (Road of the Ocean Clouds), which offers magnificent views of beaches to one side and lush hills to the other, to Hue. A stop is made en route at China Beach. Overnight Hue
Today you take the flight from Hue to Hanoi. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your accommodation. Overnight Hanoi.
Hanoi – Halong Bay - breakfast. Early this morning we drive to the strikingly beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay, we board our traditional wooden junk boat and cruise the emerald waters studded with a thousand or so karst limestone islands. Later opt for a refreshing swim in one of the many sheltered coves before taking row boats to the floating fishing village of Vung Vieng. Tonight, there's a Vietnamese cooking demonstration held on the sundeck before an impressive seafood dinner is served. Overnight - Halong Bay, Deluxe Junk Boat
Start the day with Tai Chi on the sundeck or a traditional massage. After exploring a lofty grotto hidden beneath towering cliffs we return to Hanoi. Arriving to Hanoi mid afternoon an hour or so is spent exploring the labyrinth of streets, known as the ‘36 streets of the old quarter’. Each of the narrow lanes are named after various guilds of the city’s artisan who established themselves here centuries ago. On a hair raising cyclo (rickshaw ride) we'll see the old quarter and the delightful Hoan Kiem Lake. Overnight Hanoi
