His knowledge and information was excellent. He always did his best to ensure we were okay and had everything we needed. He went out of his way to provide extra things. For example on our trip on the overnight train we had a great time because Tuan provided a bar and lots of fun. The time passed quickly! His guiding made the holiday so much better. We jelled quickly as a group because of his leading. As a lone traveller, this was very important to me and I didn't feel lonely all holiday. Well done 'On The Go'!”

Kim our guide was one of the best guides we have ever had, nothing was to much trouble and his knowledge about the country and its history was amazing, always mixed with good humour which kept us entertained. Very quickly he brought the whole group together and made us all feel at ease.

The tour itself was excellent, the itinerary was well planned and allowed us to see and experience an awful lot in the time we were there. This was the first time we have used your company and we will have no hesitation in using you again (especially if you have any more 2 for 1 offers!).”

Ky was a charming, passionate and very informative guide. His knowledgeable about the history and of Vietnam's evolution was superb and provided the history with a sense of pride, but also humor as war on any level is not easy topic to impart.

He interacted extremely well with the group, was very sympathetic to any special needs the group had or indeed if a group member was sick he personally sought out a chemist or provided advice on what would be a remedy say for a sore throat.

In a world where chivalry has all but disappeared Ky is one of life's true gentleman and each member of the group was of that opinion. I woudl have no hesitation in participating in another On the Go Tour with Ky as the guide. ”

Highlights of our trips to Vietnam

In the North, sail around the spectacular limestone peaked islets of Halong Bay onboard a traditional junk boat or visit Sapa, where you can meet remote hill tribes and trek in the rugged Tonkinese Alps. Relax on a beautiful stretch of beach in enchanting Hoi An, a picturesque riverside town which is home to over 300 tailors. Or head to the cultural Imperial city of Hue, or your fix of grand temples, tombs and palaces. In Vietnam's South, cruise the Mekong and discover its colourful floating markets and remote islands. Gain a fascinating insight into Vietnam’s compelling history at Saigon’s War Remnants Museum and head underground to the Viet Cong’s remarkable Cu Chi tunnels. For a bit of beach time try Nha Trang with its broad stretch of sandy beach and plethora of bars and restaurants, head to the laidback white sand peninsular of Mui Ne or Con Dao archipelago, an exquisite tropical island retreat.

Recommended places to visit in Vietnam

Halong Bay | Vietnam | Southeast Asia
A UNESCO listed gem

Halong Bay

No visit to Vietnam would be complete without a visit to picturesque Halong Bay, considered one of the natural wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage listed region. A cruise on a traditional Junk boat is the perfect way to explore the many caves and hidden coves with great views of the surrounding dramatic limestone peaks.

Saigon | Vietnam | Southeast Asia
Pearl of the Orient

Officially known as Ho chi Minh City, Saigon is very much a city in transition with a true blend of old-meets-new; with French colonial architecture, impressive sky scrapers, traditional lively markets and boutique designer shops. You’ll also get a fascinating insight into the Vietnam War at Reunification Palace, the Revolutionary & War Remnants Museums.

Lanterns in Hoi An | Vietnam | Southeast Asia
Traditional charm

Hoi An

Another of Vietnam’s UNESCO listed gems, picturesque Hoi An in central Vietnam has beautifully preserved architecture, ancient cobbled streets, art stalls & street markets aplenty and fabulous restaurants. It’s also THE place to have literally anything made from suits & handbags to shoes & glasses. A top day trip is a bicycle ride to the quaint farming village of Tra Que on the outskirts of Hoi An.

Mekong Delta | Vietnam | Southeast Asia
The Rice bowl of Vietnam

The Mekong Delta

With lush rice paddy fields, colourful fruit orchards, enchanting villages and bustling floating markets, the Mekong Delta in south-east Vietnam is one of the world’s greatest river regions. A great way to get around and immerse yourself in the traditional local way of life in the Mekong is aboard a sampan, when you can try your hand at bartering at the floating market in Can Thou.

Hue | Vietnam | Southeast Asia
Paris of the Orient

With a refreshing old world charm and it’s French colonial history very much evident, Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, is dotted with scenic lakes and leafy boulevards The charming Old Quarter is not be missed and best explored by cyclo where you can sit back and take in all the sights and sounds, stopping off to sample the local street food or try your hand at bargaining in one of the many shops.

Sapa Hills | Vietnam | Southeast Asia
The hill station of

Rapidly becoming one of northern Vietnam’s most popular destinations, Sapa is a former French hill station and home to local ethnic minority groups such as H’mong and Dzao who maintain a very traditional way of life. It’s a great spot for trekking amongst the cascading paddy fields and there’s plenty of picturesque routes to nearby local villages such as Cat Cat, Red Dhoa and Ta Phin.

The tour was excellent. The Halong Bay cruise and the Village visit were absolute highlights. Tuan, our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable, caring and always ready with a joke. He made the trip, would not have been nearly such a great experience without him. ”
