View On The Go's Himalayas tours

Virtual 3D tours go live on 3rd Planet.

3rd Planet gives users a virtual 3D tour of destinations online. Is this the future of the guidebook?

3rd Planet went live this past weekend with its first interactive video, entitled A Journey to Everest. Guiding users through a virtual tour with sounds to recreate the experience of actually being there, 3rd Planet worked with the Nepal Tourist Board on the project to replicate what it would be like to be in the Himalayas. Presumably these virtual tours will be extended to other destinations, allowing people to find out more about where they’re headed on holiday.

What do you think? Does this enrich your travel experience and allow you to learn more before you set out? Or does it deny you the opportunity of seeing a destination with your own eyes first? Leave your comments below or contact us on Facebook or Twitter.
