Change for Children in India

We strongly believe that travel should be a rewarding experience not just for you, but also for the local people we encounter along the way. And as such, we strive to support the children in the countries we visit, because a few extra Rupees, Dollars or Euros – it all adds up! Here is our latest update…

As part of our Change for Children programmes in India and China we have committed to supporting several local primary schools by purchasing much needed supplies that can include anything from educational supplies and teaching resources, to food and clothing.

To raise the funds for these supplies we try to provide all of our passengers in each destination with an envelope where they can place any of their unwanted currencies, which we later pull together. There are no wasted rupees in India, as there is always something that is desperately needed.

On many of our group tours in India we take travellers to visit the primary schools that we support in Abhaneri and in Alsisar so that they can meet the children, and on occasion deliver in-person the supplies we have bought.

Last month a group of travellers on our Desert Palaces and Ganges tour had the opportunity to deliver four large rugs to a school of Abhaneri as part of their itinerary. As the children sit on the floor during school time, these rugs mean they can be seated comfortably without being affected by the cold. This month four more rugs have been delivered to the school with smiling faces all round!

All of our passengers can easily get involved with Change for Children programme in India or China, all you need to do is ask your guide on tour what you can do to help.
