The Naadam Festival, Mongolia

When travelling from Moscow to Beijing aboard the legendary Trans-Siberian, why not stop in Ulaan Bataar in time to witness the spectacle of the opening ceremony of the Mongolian Naadam Festival as the locals battle it out in the three manly games – archery, horse riding and wrestling – a festival with a difference. Spanning three days in July, the festival was originally military based but is now held to commemorate Mongolia’s declaration of independence. The first two days are dedicated to the manly events and the final day for much merry making. Filmed at the Naadam Festival, this video of the week showcases each of the manly games commentated by the locals themselves to offer truly unique insight into this important event in Mongolian culture.

Witness the manly games at The Naadam Festival this July.
