7 Honeymoons with a difference

After the vows are spoken, rings exchanged and the wedding celebrations come to an end, its time to jet off somewhere far flung and exotic with your new spouse. If you don’t fancy yourselves as fly and flop honeymooners, why not add some culture and adventure to your first trip as newly weds (although that isn’t to say a few days of sun, sand and sea aren’t allowed either!). This week’s photo showcase features seven fantastic options for a honeymoon with a difference, whether its taking in the temples, caves and tea plantations of Sri Lanka before hopping over to the Maldives for some beach time, crossing a third of the world on board the luxurious Golden Eagle Express or embarking on an action-packed safari in Tanzania and relaxing on the beaches of Zanzibar, the choice is yours!

What would be your ideal honeymoon with a difference?

1. Sri Lanka & the Maldives

The Indian Ocean is synonymous with crystal clear waters and palm-fringed stretches of soft white sand, making it the perfect place to escape after your wedding day. Spend four days discovering the cultural delights of Sri Lanka before flying south to the azure waters, beautiful beaches and colourful coral reefs of the Maldives for four blissful days of relaxation.

2. Golden Eagle Express

What better way to start married life than by traversing a third of the world with your partner for life. Hop on board the Golden Eagle Express and travel in unprecedented luxury on an exclusive 15 day rail journey from Moscow to Vladivostok. Relax in your private cabin, dine in its world-class restaurants, socialize at the bar and make stops at ports of call en route.

3. Tanzania Safari & Beach

With just the right amount of adventure, romance and luxury, Tanzania offers honeymooners something slightly different. Kick off your marriage with an action-packed safari in the Serengeti before heading off to Zanzibar. Enjoy six days of rest and relaxation on the white sand beaches of this Spice Island, soaking up the sun or opting for a spot of snorkelling.

4. Creme de la Croatia

Set sail with your spouse on a luxurious eight day island cruise along Croatia’s picturesque coastline, taking in charming towns, sandy beaches, secluded bays and lush natural wilderness en route. While away the days relaxing on deck, swimming in the warm waters of the Adriatic Sea and exploring ports of call and by night enjoy the first-class facilities of your deluxe boat.

5. Waterfalls Wine & Wilderness

It takes two to tango in Buenos Aires, so grab your partner and jet off to beautiful Argentina for an unforgettable 14 day honeymoon. Taking in the charming capital city, thundering falls of Iguazu, alluring wine route of Mendoza and incredible landscapes of the Lake District, what more could you ask for?

6. Taj Showcase

Your honeymoon is perhaps one of the few times in your life when you can really spoil yourself, so why not take full advantage and indulge in a lavish holiday in India. Explore the highlights of the Golden Triangle over 9 days while staying in the lap of luxury at some of the world’s best hotels – the definition of luxury and India at its absolute finest!

7. Cairo Cruise & Coast

Why not combine culture and beach on your first trip together as a married couple? Discover the wonders of ancient Egypt and cruise the Nile on board a luxurious vessel before capping off your honeymoon with some time by the beach in Hurghada on a memorable 13 day tour.

Hi I definitely think the Croatia tour and the Chile tour are a great.
    Love both ideas.
Both are very exotic and special.

Sri Lanka and the Maldives would be our dream honeymoon. Specially to be able to stay in a hut on the water so we could jump off our deck and snorkel. Would be a dream come true.
