Lenin was a Russian Marxist revolutionary who led the Russian revolution in October of 1917. As leader of the Bolsheviks, Lenin headed the state during its first years, a time when the Soviet state was struggling to establish control of Russia and initiate a socialist economic system. Without doubt one of the most influential figures of the 20th Century, Lenin is buried in a mausoleum in Moscow’s Red Square.
