Discovered by a group of British officers in 1819, the remarkable, rock-hewn 2nd century B.C. caves of Ajanta were carved with little more than ‘hammer & chisel’ and are adorned with exquisite paintings and sculptures of Buddha. The impressive temples and monasteries of Ellora are home to the renowned Kailasa Temple - probably the largest monolith in the world and said to have taken 7000 labourers 150 years to build! This extension also includes a city tour of Aurangabad and a visit to nearby Daulabad Fort.
