Adventure travel show attracts the crowds

30th Jan 2013

Travellers and backpackers took a wander off the beaten track with the recent Telegraph Adventure Travel Show.

The Olympia Exhibition Centre in London saw thousands of people turn up on both Saturday and Sunday to plan their next adventure, attend seminars and workshops and hear professional adventurers talk about their experiences.

Luke Plastow was among those attending the London show. He highlighted the diversity of what the show offered to travellers with desires to visit countries such as Russia and other adventurous locations.

He added: "There was a mix of everything there. It also introduced me to many people and products I had never heard of before.

"I spent over three hours listening to travellers speaking of their experiences from sneaking into Russia to climbing up the wrong mountain in Greenland. The talks were the highlight for me."

Mountaineering legend Doug Scott, adventurer Ben Fogle, Olympic hero James Cracknell, and seasoned globetrotter Graham Hughes gave the event one of its strongest ever line-ups when it came to talks from celebrity adventurers.

The talks were for many people a real highlight, with adventurer and motivational speaker Dave Cornthwaite urging people to unlock their inner traveller and 'say yes more'.
