Advice guide for young globetrotters

5th Sep 2012

Travelling around the world is a rewarding experience and a new guide has been launched to help young people best prepare for their travels.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has put together the travel guide for young globetrotters, designed to try and make sure they have the trip of a lifetime.

The guide is particularly targeted at students who have just finished education and are looking to head off on a gap year.

It highlights how to stay safe and lists what preparations to take before leaving. It comes after research showed over the past six months, one in four 16 to 24 year olds travelled without insurance, while only a quarter planned out health measures before embarking on their journeys.

Khalida Cox from the Know Before You Go team at the FCO said: "Plan.Pack.Explore. helps travellers understand exactly what they need to do before they go away and provides essential information for parents in the run up to the big trip.

"The guide will also be invaluable for those who book last-minute travel and need essential travel preparation advice quickly."

The guide can be ordered or downloaded digitally on Apple and Android devices. Visit the FCO website now to order or download a copy of the guide.
