Airline AeroMexico has said it will work with various members of the tourism trade to offer competitive rates to travellers when it starts flying from the UK to Mexico before Christmas.
The airline, a member of Skyteam, will fly three times a week to Mexico DC, the country's capital city.
Flights from Heathrow will depart on Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 5.25pm arriving in Mexico at 00.35 local time, while return flights to London will leave Mexico at 10pm arriving at 3pm the next day.
AeroMexico will offer business and economy cabins. It plans to upgrade the initial Boeing 767 service to a new 787 Dreamliner from June 2013.
Currently, British Airways has a monopoly on the route, and targets business and ex-pat travellers because the tourists are catered for with regular flights to Cancun.
Elias Vivas, UK country manager for AeroMexico, said: "We are counting on the support of the UK trade, we will work out incentive programmes for a number of key accounts."
