Andy Carroll surfs on Brazilian beach

While he may be best known for his strength and prowess in the opposition box, Liverpool striker Andy Carroll appears to be learning a new hobby - surfing.

The 23-year-old footballer was spotted on a beach in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro - a real hotspot for waves and relaxation and consequently a popular holiday destination.

The striker was seen showing off his physique in Hawaiian-print swim shorts, running along the beach with a surfboard under his arm. He was holidaying with his girlfriend Stacey Miller.

Carroll, who has spent the summer dealing with speculation over his future at Liverpool, seemed delighted in their choice of holiday destination and was said to be grinning constantly as he chatted with his partner.

While Carroll went surfing, Miller spent time relaxing on the beach with her phone, before the couple browsed some local shops and returned to their hotel.

The Brazilian beaches seem to be attracting high-profile names this summer, with singer and actress Jennifer Lopez spotted on the beach at Fortaleza.
