A leisure magazine has named Bangkok as the best city in the world for the fourth year running.
Travel & Leisure named the Thai capital as the World's Best City with a 90.42% score, and it was also judged Asia's Best City for the fourth year on the run.
Meanwhile, Istanbul scored second with 89.96% of readers' votes, Cape Town was in third place at 89.57% and Tokyo fourth at 89.31%.
In 10th place was Chiang Mai with 88.15%, and Rome, Charleston, South Carolina, Barcelona and Paris were also in the top 10.
Each city was rated with scores of one to five over the criteria of: sights, culture/arts, restaurants/food, people, shopping, and value - all aspects that make cities attractive to travellers on tailor-made group tours.
The World's Best City award will be presented formally by the governor in New York on July 18.
The results came form reader questionnaires sent out from December 1 last year to April 1 this year.
