Blocos prolong fun after Carnival

14th Feb 2013

The winding down of celebrations after the Rio Carnival has many signs, not least the ending of the samba school parades at the Sambadrome with the results being tallied.

Though many residents are starting to practice Lent, the atmosphere remains vibrant in Rio with more blocos for everyone's entertainment.

The bloco Mulheres de Chico on Leme beach features songs by Chico Buarque from a female group, with style and charm being the main attractions of the party for all ages. This one is being held on Saturday from 5-9pm.

Alternatively, Bafafa in Ipanema is one for winding down to, being a regular feature on the Saturday after Carnival. This one, also on Saturday, will be on the beach at Posto 9 from 5-9pm, promising some great samba tunes and a good atmosphere.

Also on Saturday comes Ai, Que Vergonha in Sao Conrado. This one begins on the beach front and disperses outside samba school Academicos da Rocinha, and runs from 7-10pm.
