Botswana offers crowd-free safari breaks

29th Jan 2013

A prestigious travel guide has recommended Botswana as a destination for those who want to take a safari without the crowds.

Fodors highlighted the attractions of Botswana with its impressive landscape and the chance to see the "big five" during game drives but without having to jostle for position with hundreds of other tourists to get a glimpse of the wildlife.

It particularly recommends travellers should head to Okavango Delta, the biggest inland delta in the world and one of the globe's largest conservation areas, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Fodors said although Botswana remained off the beaten track when it comes to tourism, there was still a good range of high-quality luxury accommodation.

It said: "Undiscovered doesn't mean you have to settle for sub-par accommodation."

The guide also recommended the country's knowledgeable local guides, who offer game walks for those wanting to get even closer to nature.
