Bunting to give Everest talk to students

21st Feb 2013

A leading mountaineer is to provide students with an insight into climbing the West Ridge of Mount Everest during an event organised by Leeds Metropolitan University next month.

Dave Bunting MBE will deliver a motivational speech entitled 'Decision Making In Extreme Situations' at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds on Tuesday 5 March from 5.30pm.

The legendary climber displayed outstanding leadership skills when guiding a team of elite British mountaineers up Everest's Western Ridge in 2006. He planned, led and participated in the Everest expedition, which was filmed for the televised documentary Everest: Man v Mountain.

"The planning and teamwork involved took over my life for three years and set us on a mission to leave no stone unturned in the relentless preparation to achieve our goal," said Mr Bunting.

"This approach gave us the very best chance of being successful on the mountain itself."

The presentation is expected to feature a host of rare images from Everest's spectacular West Ridge, which will aim to inspire, motivate and move his audience.
