Chef Allegra McEvedy reveals Turkey's culinary secrets

25th Apr 2013

If you're planning a trip to Turkey and are impatient to experience the mouth-watering cuisine, a television series being shown on the Good Food Channel is on hand to give you a taster of what to expect.

Turkish Delights with Allegra McEvedy sees the British chef, broadcaster and food writer touring the country to seek out culinary ideas and traditions, all the while recreating authentic Turkish recipes with her own personal flourish.

Allegra's travels take in bustling cities, brightly coloured spice markets, olive oil factories, hazelnut plantations and the throb of busy restaurant kitchens.

However, she also swaps recipes and gossip with the women who rule the roost in family kitchens across the country.

The 10-part series showcases the chef's passion for Turkish culture, first established when she visited the nation as a child.

The episodes take in Istanbul, as well as Iznik, Bursa, Ephesus, Aphrodisias, Antalya, Konya and the Black Sea Coast.
