Mexico has emerged as a top choice for people in the UK who want to escape the wet and dreary weather at home this Christmas and instead head to more exotic climes.
Almost four million Britons will travel abroad over the festive period with the big getaway getting well under way this week.
London's Heathrow Airport expects to handle the departure of some 123,000 passengers on Friday for its busiest day of the festivities, while a further 114,000 and 88,000 are expected to leave via the airport on Sunday and Christmas Eve respectively.
Along with the ever popular Mexico, lots of Britons are also expected to head to other holiday hotspots such as Tunisia and Cuba.
From Friday until January 3 it is estimated that some 700,000 passengers will leave from Gatwick Airport, a further 320,000 will fly from Manchester, 300,000 from Stansted, 125,000 from Luton, 116,000 from Birmingham and some 75,000 passengers will depart from Glasgow.
