19th Feb 2013

Cricket lovers from around the world will flock to India at the beginning of April to watch the start of the T20 Indian Premier League.

The tournament kicks off on April 3 and runs until May 26, with this year's event expected to attract a record number of fans.

Now in its sixth edition, the sport's elite talent will descend on the south Asian nation to chance their arm against the best batsmen and bowlers in the business.

Cricket-playing countries such as England, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia will all be well represented on the field, where they will come up against Indian legends including Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni.

The T20 matches will be played at a wide variety of sites across India, giving the cricketing hardcore a chance to take in the breathtaking diversity of the country while witnessing some incredible sporting moments.

The IPL began back in 2008 and is generally considered to be the world's showcase for Twenty20 cricket, a shorter format of cricket consisting of only 20 overs.
