Exchange rate boosts South Africa appeal

18th Mar 2013

Britons planning a last-minute Easter getaway would be wise to consider South Africa for their holiday destination due to the country's favourable exchange rate.

The pound has strengthened by more than 17% against the rand over the past 12 months, making South Africa an ideal destination for UK holidaymakers searching for a resort where prices are low.

Figures from Post Office Travel Money show that Britons abroad can also get 11.7% more for their money than they did a year ago by visiting Argentina, where the peso has fallen against the pound.

Tourists may also be able to pick up some top of the range gadgets for cheaper than they would in the UK by visiting technology capital of the world, Japan, where the pound has strengthened by 11.6% against the yen.

Other destinations with a favourable exchange rate include Egypt, Jamaica, Sri Lanka and the Czech Republic.
