Keating reveals Mount Everest plans

13th Dec 2012

Former Boyzone lead singer Ronan Keating has revealed plans to climb Mount Everest in a charity fundraising attempt next year.

The 35-year-old has previously scaled Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for Comic Relief and successfully swam the Irish Sea for Cancer Research UK.

The Irish singer now hopes to conquer the world's highest peak sometime next year, but only after putting together an expert team and sourcing costs.

"I am trying to get a team together and funding, but it's very, very expensive," he told This Morning. "You need the right support ... I would love to do it."

He previously reported his "absolute love of the elements" saying he was obsessed by "anything to do with the outdoors, survival."

Mount Everest stands at a record-breaking 8,848 metres (29,029ft) above sea level and is located in the Mahalangur region of the Himalayas, with the international border between China and Nepal running precisely through the summit point.
