Kerala Tourism wins prestigious award

7th Dec 2012

International travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller has given Kerala Tourism a prestigious award for its efforts in putting India on the map and attracting more visitors to the country.

The magazine said the Excellence in Taking Brand India Global Award was recognition for the work put in by staff at the tourism board.

Aimed at honouring the best in the travel, tourism and hospitality, the winners of the awards are decided by the global readers of Conde Nast.

A P Anil Kumar, tourism minister for Kerala, said the award was a "big recognition" for the Indian state as a whole and for the successful 'God's Own Country' marketing campaign carried out by the tourism body to attract more travellers to the region.

He added that people considering travelling to Kerala would enjoy the natural beauty on offer in the area, as well as the warm weather and guaranteed warm welcome by the locals.
