India hopes to receive a tourism boost on the back of the success of hit movie The Life Of Pi.
Tourism minister K Chiranjeevi announced a Land Of Pi campaign inspired by the film, which tells the story of Pi Patel, an immigrant from Puducherry in India now living in Canada.
The campaign will cover magazines and newspapers, websites and outdoor advertising in a bid to promote Puducherry and Munnar as prime destinations.
To be delivered in English, French, German, Chinese, Spanish and Japanese, the campaign will seek to bring tourists from Asia and Europe to the regions.
Luxury buses will run between Chennai, Puducherry, Kochi and Munnar and there are plans to hold walking tours and produce special maps for Puducherry and Munnar.
"Short films and virals on the tourist attractions in Puducherry and Munnar have been uploaded on YouTube and other social media networks," said Mr Chiranjeevi.
