More flights to Cape Town announced

26th Oct 2012

A seasonal route from London to Cape Town has been launched to allow travellers to make the most of summer in one of the southern hemisphere's top destinations.

Virgin Atlantic is running three weekly flights from Heathrow to the South African city until the end of October before ramping up to a daily service until April 2013.

Virgin Atlantic South Africa country manager Simon Newton-Smith hailed the beauty of South Africa, something those who have already visited the country will know all about.

"Cape Town is one of the key tourist destinations in South Africa, with its beautiful beaches and surrounding wine estates. We want to make it easier for international travellers to visit the city," he said.

The UK is South Africa's biggest source market by some way, and according to official figures provided more than 420,400 visitors last year who flocked to see sights such as Table Mountain and Robben Island while sampling the fine wine and foods.
