Music takes centre stage in India

23rd Nov 2012

India is currently rocking out to a multi-city music festival, hosting bands from its shores and seven other countries.

Seagram's 100 Pipers India Music Week, which follows hot on the heels of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender music festival, is gripping the nation with its variety of sounds.

Artistes from India, Australia, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the UK will be performing in clubs until November 25.

The Rock Street Journal-owned property is now in its second year, attracting about 15,000 people last time out with 40 bands playing across three cities.

This year the show is even bigger and better, with around 50 artistes showing off their musical talents.

Once such outfit is renowned French reggae group Dub Inc. They are performing for the first time in the country and describe their music as a mix of "reggae, dancehall and nu-roots but also including touches of hip-hop, African traditional music, (and) a little bit of rock for the energy".
