Plans are in the pipeline to build a new shopping mall in Sri Lanka that is on a par with the huge super malls located in Singapore and Dubai.
It is hoped the plethora of attractions under its roof will appeal to both Sri Lankans and tourists as a place where they can spend the whole day with their families.
The five-star mall intends to cash in on the country's booming tourist industry, which has blossomed since the end of a three-decade war in 2009.
Sri Lanka attracted more than one million visitors last year, earning more than a billion dollars for the first time in history.
Situated opposite the Beira Lake in the capital of Colombo, the complex will be known as the Abans Lifestyle Mall.
Construction is due to start early next year and is expected to be completed by 2016, when the Sri Lankan government hopes to reach a target of 2.5 million tourist arrivals.
The Abans Group in collaboration with Silver Needle Hospitality has signed an agreement with AEDAS, an internationally reputed award-winning architectural firm, to lead the design for the iconic landmark.
