Vietnam, Costa Rica and Panama all feature strongly on a new list of top places for solo women to explore on private journeys.
Costa Rica and Panama are ranked highly on the list by Fox News' Susan L. Eckert, who has published advice for women travellers venturing alone.
There are so many things to do and the majority of people speak English.
Eckert advised starting in Panama City.
Here, she said, you can schedule day trips to different destinations such as the Panama Canal.
The attraction facilitates adventure activities such as zip-lining, hiking, white water rafting and even bungee jumping.
Closely following behind this pair is Vietnam.
City breaks to Saigon and Hanoi are recommended by Eckert as they are "fabulous" and "safe".
Bike tours, daytime temple trips and museum visits are all strongly suggested.
Eckert said: "You can also take a cooking class, rock climb and try some unusual Vietnam delicacies if you dare."
Speaking in general, she said: "Women should keep some basic safety practices in mind, like storing valuables in different places (hotel safe, your pocket, wallet, etc), keeping a copy of your passport in case it's lost or stolen and using a moneybelt instead of a purse."
She said a confident rather than unsure facade can also help to avoid danger.
Eckert also recommends taking a guided walking tour to get acclimatised, to learn where things are and to get a feel for the culture.
