Private journeys pic could net Galápagos trip

26th Apr 2013

China, India and Tanzania have already featured in a global competition calling on travellers to share their private journeys with the rest of the world … through the medium of photography.

Now it's your turn, whether you're a professional or amateur snapper.

The winner of the 25th annual National Geographic Traveller Photo Contest will receive a 10-day expedition to the heavenly Galápagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean.

Among the pictures already submitted are cormorant fishing in China, aerial views of the Main Bazaar in New Delhi, and the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at night.

The winner will also have their prized picture published in National Geographic Traveler magazine for sharing their memories.

The runner up will attend a seven-day National Geographic Photography Workshop. Third prize is a six-day holiday cruise on a Maine windjammer schooner for two.

Photographers can enter their favourite travel memories in the following four categories: travel portraits; outdoor scenes; sense of place and spontaneous moments.
