Smartphone users heading to South Korea can now access even more information thanks to an upgraded smartphone app from the national tourist board.
The Visit Korea 2.0 app lets users access the most up-to-date information from a database of 3,500 entries.
The upgraded version from the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) features additional travel content and information alongside news on tourist attractions, restaurants, hotels, shops and other topics.
Smartphone users who click on an entry will be directed to relevant locations by a map linked to the app. Users can also access links to social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.
Visit Korea 2.0 has been created to be more user friendly and to optimise mobile use.
It comes as KTO reported a rise in the number of people seeking travel information via smartphones thanks to the popularity of the devices.
"The KTO hopes that Visit Korea 2.0 will meet such demand by providing sufficient information and tools for … travel throughout Korea,' the agency added.
The app is compatible with iPhone and Android devices, and is available to download free via iTunes and Google Play.
