Tourism festival brings party to Shanghai streets

The Shanghai Tourism Festival is under way with the event likely to entice many more tourists to China.

A celebratory parade was held to kick-off the yearly festival, including 30 performing teams and colourful floats which brought a party atmosphere to all 2.2km of Huaihai Road, Shanghai.

The Shanghai Tourism Festival will feature around 40 activities and events which tourists and festival-goers can partake in over the course of its 22 days. The activities will fall under one of four categories: Urban Classic; Healthy Life; Culinary Shanghai and Sea Sights.

Many of the hotels and restaurants will be offering special festival deals for tourists throughout this period and a lot of local attractions are slashing prices by half during the Between September 17 and 23.

People on luxury tours and holidays can expect to see a rugby sevens championship, a Jiuzi competition and a sailing carnival - perfect for those who prefer adventuring to beach chilling on their holidays.
