Brazil is fast becoming one of the favourite locations for tourists who are searching for "once-in-a-lifetime" holidays, according to the country's tourism agency.
The director of international markets at tourism body Embratur, Marcelo Pedroso, believes the range of attractions on offer in Brazil make it a perfect destination for travellers who are seeking adventure.
Brazil is currently undergoing a transformation in preparation for hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2014 as well as the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro. Overseas visitors can already enjoy the substantial investment in travel infrastructure and enhancements to accommodation being made ahead of these events.
Pedroso singled out Fernando de Noronha as a potential destination for tourists who are looking for an unforgettable experience. The area is popular for scuba diving and its wildlife and coral reefs have already been recognised by Unesco as it is classified a world heritage site.
As well as the major cities, Brazil also offers the opportunity to visit sprawling national parks and the Amazon rainforest. With such a variety of experiences available, the South American country is likely to be a hit with travellers of every persuasion.
