Travellers are already packing their bags for this year's International Maritime and Spring Festival in Marmaris.
The Turkish town, located between the Mediterranean waters and the Aegean Sea, has celebrated the festival annually for the past two decades.
Every mid-May people from all walks of life descend on Marmaris to join in the celebrations and sample the maritime lifestyle. From fun-filled entertainment performances to high-octane sports contests, the festival has it all.
Tourists can hang out on the coastline and enjoy sea-based activities before heading to the streets to watch colourful parades go by.
There is plenty to get involved with, including sand sculpture competitions, mass picnics and firework displays. The festival even hosts an International Yachting Exhibition, perfect for sailing lovers.
In between the daily activities, visitors must be sure to taste the Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine including tarhana (soup with dried yoghurt), ballı kabuk (shells with honey) and uzum koftesi (grape rissole).
