Tourism officials in Turkey are celebrating after the country was named Europe's leading tourist board at the World Travel Awards.
Officials representing the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism said the award was "prestigious" while it is also thought the latest gong could well encourage more people to head to the country next summer.
The award comes after some 31.4 million people visited Turkey last year, according to official figures. Some 2.58 million of those came from the UK, the statistics showed.
The minister for culture and tourism in Turkey said: "We are thrilled to have won this prestigious travel award during a year which has seen a number of awards for Turkey and unprecedented press coverage.
"It is also a year in which Istanbul is the European Capital of Sport and when the city became one of three short-listed cities for the 2020 Olympics."
Turkey has many advantages as a destination: it offers culture, great weather, fantastic food, stunning scenery and friendly locals among a host of other things.
