Wozniacki rejoicing in Moscow after tennis triumph

22nd Oct 2012

Tennis-loving holidaymakers have been celebrating in Moscow after Danish tennis champion Caroline Wozniacki won the WTA Kremlin Cup.

The Kremlin Cup is one of the world's top international tennis tournaments and has been held in Moscow for more than 20 years, attracting a high number of tourists to the historic capital.

Wozniacki will likely be enjoying all the attractions the vibrant city has to offer, after winning her 20th singles title by defeating top seed Sam Stosur 6-2 4-6 7-5.

This is the star's second title this season, after her victory in the Korea Open in September.

But Wozniacki was modest about her achievement in Russia and said: "Sam played well and it could have gone either way."

She added: "I hit some good shots close to the lines on important points and it made the difference."

The 22-year-old Dane comes from a sporting family, with her father an ex-professional football player and her mother representing Poland at volleyball. Her boyfriend is golf world number one Rory McIlroy.
