Zanzibar's romantic unspoilt island paradise looks like it has been transported from the backdrop of a Hollywood love story.
So it's fitting that the sun-kissed East African archipelago in the Indian Ocean is home to one of the biggest movie-based celebrations in the continent's festival and events calendar.
Details have just been released about the 16th edition of the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) which runs from June 29-July 7.
Domestic film makers and producers will use this opportunity to showcase their products, centred around the hub of Stone Town.
The festival's official competition has four main categories, including feature and short films, documentaries or short movies, East African films and short or animation motion pictures.
This year's theme is Global Images Meet in Zanzibar.
But if film isn't your bag, then Zanzibar's legendary beaches offer world-class watersports.
These include scuba diving, snorkelling, deep sea fishing, kayaking, water-skiing and sailing on traditional local dhows.
Its rich variety of fine restaurants specialising in fish are also a must.
