Day 1

Phnom Penh

Welcome to Cambodia. On arrival in Phnom Penh, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2

Phnom Penh city tour

Phnom Penh - Mekong River Cruising. Transfer to your river cruise boat this morning before embarking on a tour of Phnom Penh. Your first stop will be the Killings fields, a sombre yet important reminder and memorial to those that lost their lives during the Khmer Rouge dictatorship. You then visit the former prison of Tuol Sleng or 'S21' which is now a museum dedicated to the genocide that took place in Cambodia.

After lunch explore more of the capital, starting with the Royal Palace. A golden shimmering example of Khmer architecture, the royal palace is a complex of buildings set among well kept gardens. Make your way back to the cruise boat aboard a 'cyclo', taking you through the bustling streets of downtown Phnom Penh.

This evening before enjoying a sumptuous barbecue dinner onboard, you'll have the opportunity to here a captivating talk about the modern history of Cambodia from a local university professor.

Day 3

Cruising the Mekong

Set sail, cruising up the Mekong this morning towards the small village of Angkor Ban. Here you'll see find an unspoiled community with traditional houses, giving you a sense of the way of live from a bygone era.

Enjoy lunch on board as you cruise up the river to a local school. Here you'll have a chance to understand more about the younger generations of Cambodia and how they're educated. Then continue to the pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey, built in the 7th Century. On return to the boat you'll make a brief stop at the colourful temple of Wat Nokor.

Day 4

Koh Okhna Tey

This morning stop at the Island of Koh Okhna Tey, famous for its manufacturing of high class silk products. Explore the island by tuk tuk, gaining an understanding of the silk making process, from its source, little silkworms, to a final top quality garment. Then there's a presentation about the geography of the Mekong from your guide before returning to the boat.

The cruise boat continues up stream, reaching the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle river. Cruise through jungle landscape this afternoon and dock for the night near Kampong Chhnang, where you'll be able to sit and watch life on the shore.

Day 5

Kampong Chhnang

This morning you have the option to enjoy a early morning Tai Chi class on the deck of the boat. After breakfast you reach Kampong Chhnang, often referred to as Cambodia's 'water world', where houses, businesses and most things in daily life are balanced on stilts protruding from the water. Taking a boat to shore you head for a rural village to see the local Khmer style pottery being produced. Explore the surrounding area of floating villages and wetlands before returning to the boat.

Enjoy lunch on board as the cruise ship makes its way out of the river and into the Great Tonle Sap Lake, the biggest fresh water lake in Asia. This afternoon enjoy high tea on board as you cruise towards Siem Reap.

Day 6

Tonle Sap Lake

Mekong River Cruising - Siem Reap. It's the final leg of the cruise this morning, travelling through Tonle Sap Lake and into Siem Reap. The beating heart of Cambodia, Tonle Sap has more fish than any other lake in the world and provides support and sustenance to millions of Cambodians. As you disembark the cruise boat in Siem Reap you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this pretty town.

Day 7

Angkor Wat

Today you will visit the awe inspiring Angkorian temples that have made Siem Reap famous. Starting with the ancient city of Angkor Thom, you will marvel at the Bayon temple, constructed in the 12th century this temple is amazing example of bas-reliefs, particularly in the east and south gallery.

Next you'll continue to Ta Prohm temple which, unlike other temples that have seen extensive renovation, has been left to the ravages of nature and is an atmospheric maze of trees growing out of temple ruins.

This afternoon you'll visit the architectural master piece that is Angkor Wat, famous the world over for it's amazing size and grandeur. Taking close to 30 years to build and covering a area of 81 hectares, it is one of the largest religious monuments in the world.
