I had the great pleasure of travelling through the amazing country of Egypt earlier this month on the King Ramses tour. Beginning in Cairo was eye-opening and breathtaking all at once. To experience life in this massive city, feel the warmth of the people and the buzz of life on the Nile was something I'll never forget.
We ventured down the Nile to some of the beautiful historic spots and it would not have been the same without the guidance and knowledge of Waleed to explore and explain. He was friendly and informative but also funny and seemed to fit within our group as a reliable leader who was happy to join in the fun rather than just as a guide only. Simply put this tour would not have been as brilliant as it was without Waleed.
Thanks again for your hard work and care. Hope to see you again soon!
All the best,
Visit Egypt, it will be a trip of a lifetime!
My wife and I are pretty seasoned travellers, but our trip to Egypt quickly became our favourite trip. It was our first time on a tour as well, typically we book all our own hotels, transportation, activities etc, but for Egypt, I recommend to all my friends to take a tour. Egypt's history is so rich and colourful you would never be able to get a full understanding just from reading tour books.
We did the King Ramas tour with On the Go Tours and had Momo as our tour guide. Momo was absolutely amazing, he was the perfect level of energetic and fun and knew just how to make our group connect and have fun. When explaining different parts of the history he would make the discussions interactive and engaging.
Our hotels were beautiful and clean with amazing customer service. They all seemed to have double the staff any hotels in North America have, so anything you need/want there is someone ready instantly to make it happen.
The Pyramids were incredible, as you'd expect. Philae Temple in Aswan was one of my favourite stop, it was so beautiful and detailed in just a picturesque spot on the Nile. I also loved learning about the Nubian people while in Aswan and seeing an authentic part of their traditional culture. Abu Simbel was definitely the highlight of my trip, it is a paid upgrade, but you 100% must do it. It was amazing to drive into the Sahara desert, to find this beautiful temple beside a lake. Abu Simbel has very interesting ancient and recent history. We also upgraded to the Nile cruise, I hear the Felucca was fun, but loved our time on the cruise. The meals were delicious, the staff amazing and it was so relaxing to lay by the pool. Kom Ombo was a smaller temple, mind-blowing to hear the stories of ancient Egyptians wrestling crocodiles. Luxor was cool to see, and the massive size of Karnak Temple is hard to comprehend but beautiful to walk through. Valley of the Kings was my wife's favourite part of the tour, the detailed colourful hieroglyphs and drawings are unlike anything else we saw. Hurghada was beautiful, the perfect beach vacation to relax after so much touring. The Cairo museum was very cool, with King Tut's treasures as the highlight.
Questions my Friends Ask:
Did we feel safe?
100% all the time, I felt far safer in Egypt than I did in Athens, Vancouver, LA, Seattle, Lisbon, London etc. Overall we found the Egyptians to be incredibly welcoming and just thrilled to see us.
Was it safe as a Gay Couple?
Yes, 100%. Same as with hetero couples, PDA is not recommended. But our tour guide and group all knew and we felt perfectly safe. Momo was even able to get us king beds not twins.
Did you have to cover up?
Yes, women should cover their knees and shoulders while in public. My wife is more a "Tom Boy" and was able comfortable in men's shorts and t-shirts. You do not need a scarf to cover your head as some of the other sites mention.
Were you Cat Called or felt a lot of men's attention?
We were not cat called, some shop attendants would call me beautiful to try and get my attention to their shops, but I would just smile and walk away. A did feel a few more eyes on me then I do at home, but it is more because our light skin is not the norm there. I never felt threatened or have my personal space invaded by them. ”
Momo was absolutely fantastic!! He definitely made the tour better than we could’ve ever imagined! The tour was well planned, with lots to do and see every day. I am recommending this tour to everyone I know! Thanks for the great experience. ”
Wow! Egypt was absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend Egypt to anyone wanting to go learn about the history and experience the culture. Every sight was stunning, the highlight being Abu Simbel. I also really loved Luxor, it was a pretty city and Luxor temple at night time was also beautiful. I chose the Nile cruise option as the weather was colder and it was awesome. The staff were great on the boat and looked after you well, plus there was a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everyone in Egypt was so friendly and welcoming. I felt so safe and never once had any issues. You can see that Egypt is trying really hard to make everyone feel safe and I believe they are doing an excellent job.
Momo was a wonderful tour guide. His passion for his country and job is something to be adored. He brought so much energy to the tour and we had the best time. He was so involved with our group, who we all now call family, and really made the trip that little more special
Thank you so much Momo and On the Go for such a wonderful experience”
Hands down the best way to see Egypt and with the best guide who was phenomenal from day one with his one of a kind personality and his in-depth knowledge which is only overshadowed by his undying passion for his country and his job. There was never a moment I questioned anything we were doing and never a moment I felt unsafe. The tour was phenomenal and covered all of the highlights you could ever imagine as well as some lesser known gems like Karnak which for me personally overshadowed the pyramids. The experiences packed into the itinerary as well were great with variety sure to make everyone happy. 10/10 Thanks for everything On the Go.”
If you are planning or considering a trip to Egypt, get ready, get excited, for a trip of a lifetime.
My family of four had an amazing holiday on the King Ramses tour over Xmas/New Years and we all cannot recommend On The Go Tours highly enough. They were organised from the moment we arrived at the airport and the itinerary covered all the must-see sites and hotels and food were great.
We upgraded to the Nile Cruise which was amazing and we spent Xmas at Abu Simbel - which you should add onto your tour as it’s definitely worth it.
I received a fair amount of questions around the safety in Egypt from friends and family back home, and I can confidently say that I did not feel unsafe once! I have done a fair bit of travelling around the world and felt unsafe in many other countries. Egypt is a a beautiful country, with beautiful people and unforgettable historic sites.
Last but not least, our guide and Egyptologist.
His wealth and knowledge for his county was infectious and inspiring. To be honest, before coming to Egypt I wasn’t too interested in Egyptian history, however in the short time spent with our guide, he was able to captivate not only myself but the group of 13 others with his humour and wittiness.
If you are considering Egypt as a travel destination, do it and do it with On The Go! ”
I booked the King Ramses Tour with the Nile Cruise upgrade. This was my very first tour ever and On the Go definitely has Egypt perfected. Our tour guides Mohamed (Dino), Aamer, and Sam were superb! Their knowledge and pride for their country was perfect especially for a history lover like myself. There wasn’t a question that they couldn’t answer and I learned so much on this tour! Not only are they knowledgeable but also very organized and have perfected their job. The cruise was very luxurious and the food was incredible throughout. I fell so in love with Egypt I’m going to buy a property there! It was a great mix of travelers from older to young and from all parts of the world. I definitely made some great friendships for a lifetime on this bucketlist destination. I have since booked and taken a Morocco trip from “On the Go” just because of my wonderful experience and can now say that this company does tours extremely well and for such an affordable price! All of their tour guides that I have had have been fabulous! Thank you again and can’t wait to return! ”
We had an amazing holiday and have been recommending On The Go and Egypt to everyone! From the service we received in the UK before we left to the assistance we had from all of the On The Go representatives in Egypt, we couldn't have hoped for anything more. In particular, our tour guide Alam was fantastic. He immediately made our tour group feel at ease so we very soon felt like one big family. He told us all about his beautiful country with great knowledge and humour. He also always went out of his way to make sure everything was as effortless as possible for us, so all we had to do was enjoy the experience. The itinerary took us to all of the must-see sights in Egypt, which were all even more impressive than we could have imagined. All of the accommodation and food on the trip were great, but we particularly enjoyed those on the Nile Cruise. We'll certainly be booking more holidays with On The Go in future!”
My mother and I had an incredible experience with On The Go Tours. Momo was so knowledgeable about the various historical sites, ancient Egyptian religion, etc. and always put a smile on the faces of our tour group. Our guide Ameer for the Nile cruise portion of the trip was also fantastic, sharing much of his knowledge and expertise. We felt completely safe throughout our visit and would definitely recommend Egypt and On The Go Tours to others. ”
This trip has easily been one of the most amazing journeys that I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing! Almost immediately we all became one big family and I couldn’t have asked for a better group or tour guide to travel with! Momo has perfected the balance of making each tour fun whilst still teaching us the beautiful history of Egypt and keeping us all safe! Thank-you so much Momo!
I highly recommend this trip to anyone and everyone as it is truly like nothing else! Will definitely be coming back 😊 ”
