Gaze in awe at Cheops (Khufu) - the largest of the three great pyramids. Constructed from over 2.5 million limestone blocks it is thought to have taken more than 20 years to construct. Continuing to Saqqara, we can explore the myriad tombs and temples at this site and see Zhoser’s step pyramid - constructed by Imhotep, the pharaoh’s chief architect in 2700 BC! Later there is a chance to have dinner before the overnight sleeper train to Aswan.

Disembarking near Kom Ombo, we enjoy a guided tour of the Temple of Kom Ombo - dedicated to the crocodile headed god - Sobek and the Temple of Horus at Edfu, before driving north to Luxor. Day 7

Valley of the Kings

Luxor - Cairo. Take flight over ancient Luxor with an optional hot air balloon ride very early this morning before touring the West Bank of the Nile. Highlights of the visit include the Colossi of Memnon, a massive pair of statues that stand silent against a historic backdrop, the Valleys of the Kings and the awesome colonnaded Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

The Valley of the Kings is studded with often highly decorated tombs, constructed to once house the regal sarcophagi enclosed mummies of the mighty pharaohs awaiting passage into the after-life. This afternoon after lunch and time to relax we visit the colossal Temple of Karnak, with its stone-columned Hypostle Hall. Tonight, we return by overnight sleeper train to Cairo.

I would like to let you know that I loved my tour of Egypt. The tour was well organized and the itinerary covered all the places I really wanted to see. It was made even better by Mahmoud, our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered every question I had. He even rearranged our time in Luxor and spread it out over 2 days. It made a huge difference to me and every other person on our tour. Egypt was wonderful but Mahmoud made it amazing!

Hi, I just wanted to say how great the King Tutankhamun tour and our guide Mahmoud Ramadan were. The tour showcased the best of Ancient Egypt and Mahmoud was fantastic. He took such great care of the group and he knows an incredible amount about Ancient Egypt. Even when i got a cold he assisted me with going to a pharmacy. He was very informative at all the ancient sites and took us to local restaurants and markets/stores at all our destinations that provided a great feel for modern Egypt. Thanks to him and the tour I have walked away with a great respect and understanding of both ancient and modern Egypt.

The tour was very well organized. Alam did an excellent job of getting us to all the activities while staying just enough in the background so we could enjoy our time in Egypt. We were well taken care of and the various arrangements were quite satisfactory. We felt safe, and that we had a first hand experience of both old and new Egypt. I'd recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience this part of the world. On a more personal note, we found Alam to be a very personable guide, very easy to get along with and accommodating of our needs. He's an excellent representative of not only your company but also of Egypt.

Hi Team

I just wanted to pass on my praise to your team in Egypt for the excellent vacation on my recent King Tutankhamun tour. I was dubious about going on an organised trip but your schedule offered the sights that I wanted to see so I took the plunge. I want to pass on my thanks to our tour guide (Haytham Youssry - Sam) for his excellent work. His enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for his country and the historical sites made this an unforgettable and amazing holiday. People often talk about going that 'extra mile' but without doubt Haytham did just that, our every need was catered for before we even knew we wanted it. Excellent, I cannot thank the guy enough.

As for the vacation itself I cannot praise you enough either. I've never taken an 'adventure' holiday before where the only thing I need to do is turn up at the time I'm told. It was a tiring schedule and an overnight train ride from hell but the fact that I managed to see all of the major highlights on my bucket list within the week is pretty good going. The whole process from start to finish went well although I did struggle with relinquishing control to you guys at first!!

This was an amazing trip of a lifetime. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone! The tour was well paced and very well-organized. I felt very safe at all times. Momo and all the other guides were incredibly informative, fun and great to be around. Momo brought out a vibe that really got all of us to know each other so well which allowed for an even better time making new friends.

This was an amazing tour, and I'm glad I went. We covered a great deal in 9 days; I only wish that my personal schedule had allowed for an extra day in Cairo. It needs to be said that Momo was instrumental in making this a good experience for me, and for the other members of our group. He loves his country and he really cares about presenting knowledge in an accessible and fun way, without diluting any of it. It helped that he would allude to stories and sites that we had visited throughout the tour, so there was a cumulative effect. Add to that his genuine kindness; on more than one occasion, he reached into his own pocket to make sure the group was comfortable and well-fed. I don't know that he understood how much I appreciated his enthusiasm, since I'm a relatively quiet person who doesn't necessarily seek out group experiences, but he made it more than bearable. I am not surprised that he won Global Guide of the year.

This was a fantastic tour. Everything I've wanted to see since childhood and more. The best part of the tour was our guide Waleed. He gave us much needed advice on how to deal with awkward situations, but most of all, his knowledge of the Pharaonic period is unequaled. If anyone is planning this trip, I'd advise them to find out if Waleed is leading it. If so, do it!.

What a lovely informative and amazing guide. Kept us on track very organised introduced us to local culture. Very passionate about Egypt and his heritage I.e. Related to Rameses! We loved all parts of the tour except the choice of hotel in Giza. Which is nothing to do with him. Well deserving of an award
