Visiting Egypt was an unforgettabke experience, from the pick up at the airport right up to drop off and assistance to get home. From day one I felt safe and at home, welcomed with open arms by our guide, Momo. We were advised of what to expect when visiting places, as well as a reasonable price of goods. When visiting various temples we were given wonderful information, at Philae we even had an imprompto play guided by Momo to help understand where the gods and goddesses fit into the picture. We were treated and made to feel like a temporary family and lasting friendships were formed. I was also given the opportunity to extend my trip and Momo as well as on the go went out of their way to make this happen. I was very sad to leave Egypt and the tour as it became a second home and family. The sites were breathtaking, the people were so welcoming and I would recommend this tour to anyone”
Words can’t describe what an extraordinary experience our Road to Jordan trip was. I’ve travelled a lot, with many different tour companies, and I have to say my experience on this trip (particularly in Egypt) was by far and away the best I’ve ever had.
Our Egypt guide Momo was so passionate about his country, and excited to share his vast knowledge of history with us. You couldn’t help but be swept up in his enthusiasm! He always went out of his way to ensure everyone in our group was comfortable and well briefed on our schedule, which was a little hectic (but that’s why I chose this trip, to see as much of Egypt and Jordan as possible, and it was worth the occasional long travel day!). Even with the more difficult-to-please guests (every group has one or two!), he was always patient, kind, calm, and attentive. He handled everything extremely well and always went the extra mile for our group.
Our Jordan guide Eid was equally as knowledgeable and is possibly the kindest man I’ve ever met, it was a real pleasure to travel with him. He was especially good at interacting with each person in the group and ensuring his pace worked for all of us. I saw far too many incredible sites to choose a favourite, though highlights included a hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings, relaxing in Hurghada, and of course seeing the gorgeous Petra in person.
One thing in particular I’d love to give a shout-out to is the quality of the hotels that On the Go chose for us: They were wonderful! Much swankier than any trip I’ve taken before. It was lovely to have such beautiful, luxurious rooms to relax in after a long day of exploring temples and tombs. The food was excellent as well. I met so many fantastic people in our group and we’ll definitely stay in touch (in fact some of us are already planning our next trip together).
If you’re considering this tour, or any others in this region, please don’t listen to any negative comments you may get from friends or family (‘it’s unsafe’, etc). At no point whatsoever did I feel unsafe during this trip. The people we met were so friendly, we saw so many awesome sights, and we were always well taken care of by our guides and drivers. I will definitely return someday!”
Sam did a fantastic job !! I would highly recommend On The Go. ”

Recommended places to visit in Egypt
With so many ancient wonders to choose from putting together a wish-list of Egypt's sites can be slightly overwhelming so to help we've put together a selection of the best with a bit of beach and river cruising thrown in for a little variety.
The capital of Cairo is a fascinating introduction to modern Egypt with plenty of world-class sights. The Pyramids of Giza need little introduction as the oldest and last standing Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. If you want to see some of the priceless treasures once enclosed in pharaoh's tombs, then the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the place to go with mummies too.
What better way to top off your time in Egypt than by the sea, soaking up the sun on a sandy beach. Once a small fishing town, the now popular Red Sea resort of Hurghada is the perfect place to while away the days with excellent snorkeling opportunities around the colourful coral reefs just offshore. It's also a great place to try windsurfing and kiteboarding with reliable winds year-round.
Arguably one of the most impressive ancient sites in Egypt, the two rock temples of Abu Simbel were constructed in dedicated to King Ramses II and are an incredible sight to behold. Marvel at the four colossal statues guarding the entrance of the Great Temple and wander inside its central hall, small chambers and sanctuary, all decorated with hieroglyphics and deity depictions.
Situated on the banks of the River Nile, the Nubian city of Aswan enjoys a scenic setting across from the granite-clad Elephantine Island in the south of Egypt. Here you can stroll along the broad Corniche, shop to your heart's content in the bustling souks, dine in floating restaurants, visit the impressive High Dam and explore the ancient Philae Temple on Agilika Island.
A vast necropolis where elaborate royal tombs mark the burial ground of pharaohs from the New Kingdom, you won’t want to miss the Valley of the Kings on your trip to Egypt and Luxor. Wander down into these underground tombs, once decorated with priceless treasures that the pharaoh would have required in the afterlife, and colourful hieroglyphics on the tomb walls.
With the sun on your face and wind in your hair cruising down the Nile in a traditional felucca sail boat surely is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the city and dusty temple complexes. Spend two nights plying the course of the Nile, top up on your tan, dance around beachside bonfires and fall asleep under a blanket of stars or opt for a luxury cruise with all mod-cons.

Egypt Travel Advice:
We keep abreast of the latest travel advice to Egypt and follow advice as set out by the British Foreign Office. Please be assured that safety of our travellers is paramount and our tours will only visit places that the Foreign Office advises are safe to travel to. We recommend that your check the latest travel advice from the relevant advisory body in your country.
With recent events in the Middle East Region, travel advice to Egypt does change from time to time. At this point in time, we are using the sleeper train service between Cairo and/or Luxor and Aswan, as the Interior Ministry in Egypt disallows foreign nationals to travel on the seated service. We are also not running tours to the Siwa Oasis and will re-evaluate this again as soon as the FCO lifts the current travel ban to Egypt's Western Desert.
The FCO currently advises against all but essential travel by air to or from Sharm el Sheikh airport. None of our group tours include Sharm el Sheikh and so our group tours remain unaffected by this travel alert. We will be monitoring the situation closely.
