Monday. Your first night at Copenhagen airport is included. Please make your way to the Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport which is a short walk from the main terminal.

Kangerlussuaq & Northern Lights
This morning after breakfast and hotel check out we take a a morning flight GL781 at 11:00 from Copenhagen to Kangerlussuaq in Western Greenland. Upon arrival in Kangerlussuaq you will be met and transferred to the Hotel Kangerlussuaq for check in. Later we attend an information meeting before embarking on a city tour which includes a visit to the former American Base "Blue West 8" including the restaurant, the night club, bowling hall and swimming pool.
This evening we embark on an evening tour in the search for the Northern Lights, we will head out into the countryside away from any light pollution to maximise our chance of seeing this incredible phenomenon. Whilst preparing us a delicious cup of Greenlandic coffee, our experienced guide will teach us more about the aurora borealis and the stories people have made up about it over the years.

Arctic tour of Kangerlussuaq
After breakfast at the hotel we take an Arctic nature tour to try and see one of the world's biggest population of wild Musk Oxen living within close range of Kangerlussuaq. We drive by minibus to an area where there will be possibilities to see musk oxen and reindeer. (Please note that we are going into the wilderness; it is not a zoo. We cannot guarantee to see the animals, but the viewing rate is generally high).
You can spend the rest of the day on some optional excursions:
The Inland Ice Cap (4-5 hours) A true Arctic experience and almost like travelling back in time to the Ice Age. We drive along the mountain track and partly off-road directly to the Greenland Inland Ice Cap - passing through the impressive Arctic landscape such as former glacier valleys, the Arctic desert, along frozen rivers and over small passes - before stopping next to a 3-million cubic kilometers lump of ice. Costs provided are an approximation and subject to change price per person: DKK 700
Dog sledge Experience (2 hours) On a 2-hour tour you will - together with your Greenland driver and his pack of Greenland huskies - have the unique experience of travelling like the Inuit have been doing for centuries. - there can be up to 3 persons per sledge. Rent of fur clothes and boots are included in the price. Only operated when there is snow - expected from early January to late March. You must be in a good physical shape to join a dog sledge tour. Costs provided are an approximation and subject to change Per person: DKK 2100 (2 pax pr. sledge), DKK 1400 (3 pax. pr. sledge)
Tonight dinner is included at the hotel.

Back to Denmark
After breakfast we depart the hotel for our afternoon flight back to Copenhagen. We'll be staying back at the Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport which is walking distance from the main terminal.

Clarion Airport Hotel, Copenhagen (Denmark)
Just a short walk across the covered walkway from the main terminal and 15 minutes' metro from the city centre, the Clarion Copenhagen Airport is a modern hotel with excellent facilities. Guest rooms are a decent size and come with floor to ceiling windows and importantly sound proofing - so the planes won't disturb you. The breakfast buffet is extensive and there is an onsite spa for guests to enjoy as well as Wi-Fi (charges apply).
Hotel Kangerlussuaq, Kangerlussuaq
The former barracks of the Sondrestrom US Air Base, Hotel Kangerlussuaq sits within the airport at Kangerlussuaq. Guest rooms are slightly dated but all come with private facilities and modern conveniences. Wi-fi is available and the hotel also boasts fantastic customer service as well as the most visited cafe in Greenland - the Green Bar/Naapifik serving up a delicious array of Greenlandic cuisine. Be sure to look out for the herds of musk ox and reindeer that roam the local area.
