Stop At: Golden Circle Route, South Region

Get into the history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park, witness the powerful beauty of a multi-tiered waterfall at Gullfoss and walk among bubbling geothermal pools at Geysir Geothermal Area.

Duration: 7 hours

Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir, South Region

Learn about some of the thrilling and somewhat gruesome history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park. It’s significance is so great that it is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll walk the grounds where Icelandic democracy began and visit sites where Viking-era justice was carried out including the Drowning Pool and the Gallows Rock. Thingvellir is also the place where two tectonic plates are gradually separating creating a gorgeous landscape of steep cliffs and broad fields featuring Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Geysir, Haukadalur, North Iceland

The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Strokkur, Geysir, South Region

While the Great Geysir erupts only occasionally these days, the last time being in 2016, nearby geyser Strokkur erupts regularly delighting onlookers by shooting hot water high into the air every few minutes.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Gullfoss, Blaskogabyggd, South Region

The most popular waterfall in Iceland is, without a doubt, Gullfoss (the golden falls). And that is saying quite a lot in a country that is home to thousands of waterfalls. Gullfoss is also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Iceland and it is certainly one of the largest. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls and there are several paths available around the waterfall including one leading down to its bottom so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera at the ready.

I loved every minute of this tour. We visited many interesting sites which were great to see. I recommend this tour. Here are some suggestions: Take a water-proof jacket or raincoat. If you want to get close to the waterfall, you should be prepared. The right shoes are important for this tour! I brought along my hiking, sturdy shoes. The way down to the waterfall might be slippery, so I was happy to have the proper shoes. Time for lunch is quite tight. I suggest you grab a quick sandwich and enjoy the view instead. We had a bigger lunch and then had to rush to see the waterfall.

Our tour guide was excellent offering interesting explanations and background fair each site. Bus was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Food choices at Geysir stop were great ( much better than expected). Wish we could have had a bit more time at Geysir stop to explore the shops and hotel. Had more time than needed at Gulfoss. Overall great tour - add it to your list!

This was an amazing full day trip which included visits to various sites. The scenery was stunning and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. The coach was warm and comfortable which you need as it was -8 outside!! Plenty of great opportunities for the budding photographer!

Very good with knowledgeable tour guide. Pack your thermals as very cold in January. Suitable timings for stop offs to see sights and to eat. (If you’re into pokemon go, plenty of stops on the way) :)

Tour was wonderful! Our guide was fantastic and was available for questions throughout the tour. The sights we were taken to were very beautiful and interesting. Would certainly book another tour with them. Only negative was that we were not dropped off at the same location that we were picked up from. Not a huge deal, but not being too familiar with the city, it just made us navigate a new area.

I would definitely recommend The Golden Circle Tour. I had such a great time seeing the Cathedral, Thingvellir National park, the Geysirs and waterfalls. It was well worth it. Our tour guide Aga and driver Rowland were great. Aga the guide was very informative. You can tell she is very passionate about what she does. We had enough time to stop and take pictures, walk around, shop and enjoy lunch at Gulfoss. Be aware that it gets very cold and windy near the waterfall so dress warm.

I would highly recommend this tour as it covers the whole area, however, one thing didn't realize there is an option to add on the Fontana Spa with this tour which was something we would've done. Also, something you should be aware of is that when at the sites, in particular, Gulfloss waterfall, the ramp down to the fall is very slippery because it is plastic and you're close to the glacier so it's very cold there and I fell twisting my ankle and knee. They have no signage, handrail or anything, but then people started walking up along the sides telling us not to walk on the walkway after I fell, geez really. I think the tour operator should warn people of this fact.I would definitely recommend doing this tour, our tour guide was very informative about the area and provided excellent information and was engaging with us. While this is a long day, there were enough breaks for in between things so that you didn't feel you were on a forced march.

Perfectly timed tour of the highlights of the Golden Circle, excellent narration by our tour guide, Dagmar. Managed to see everything in the daylight, tour lasted all day but not excessively long or tiring. Highly recommend!

My partner and I couldn't have wished for a better introduction to Iceland. The waterfalls, rivers and early setting of the Icelandic parliament were all amazing sights, the natural beauty of Iceland is a wonder to behold. Dress up warmly, it is very cold. Our guide, Jacob, told us many interesting stories and knew the history and geological background very well. Thoroughly recommended.

Both our guide and driver were exceptional at what they did. The guide was a native, informed, multi-lingual and added a lot of insightful information to our stops. The driver was experienced and manipulated the curves and parking with ease. Comfortable coach. Destination highlights gave a great overview of the Golden Circle. Well worth the time and money.
