By the end of the course you should feel confident cooking a number of Indian dishes at home. Grounded in professional Indian culinary techniques, our courses are more practical than theoretical. They’re designed especially for the cook who wants to host delicious dinner party back home and impress their guests. India on the Menu demystifies the art of Indian cooking by offering a hands–on, small–group course with a dynamic, fun and informative approach to learning. And when you want to leave the heat of the kitchen, you can head to the palm–fringed shores of the Arabian Sea.

Combined with the tropical appeal of the former Portuguese enclave of Goa our prime aim is to offer you a taste of India’s culinary regions with plenty of easy cooking tips and the opportunity to enjoy a break somewhere a little different. For the spirited traveller, this cooking holiday offers a gently paced introduction to the colourful and inspiring cuisine of India.

5 Day Course Content

Day 1 - This morning’s cooking session will be on classic north Indian food - biryanis, maybe breads or luscious lentils - followed by a lunch of what you’ve created. The rest of the day is free.

Day 2 - It’s an early start this morning with a visit to the bustling local market with your chef. See the fresh produce, talk with the spice merchants and perhaps buy some Indian cooking utensils and afterward we can visit an authentic cafe for a South Indian breakfast.

Day 3 - The south of India and Goan soul food are the focus of today’s fascinating session, where you will learn to cook dishes rarely served in restaurants. Fish curries, pepper chicken, fragrant rices, tangy dals are just some of the delights your chef may teach. Lunch follows overlooking the river. The rest of the day is free.

Day 4 - Today it’s a visit to the Spice Gardens, an ancient plantation growing everything from vanilla and coffee, to pepper and cardamom. A tour through these vast gardens - practically a lush tropical forest – shows you how spices are grown and harvested. The excursion lasts about half a day, after which you have the day to yourself perhaps to cool off by the sea.

Day 5 - The final morning cooking session is a treat - where your chef will try and accommodate your special requests, dishes you may have always wanted to know how to prepare. The course finishes after lunch.
