Departing after breakfast we make our way towards the magnificent Chowmahalla Palace, a dazzling display of Nizam grandeur. En route we stop off for photo opportunities at the striking Osmania General Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals in the country and a stunning example of Indian architecture; at the Andhra Pradesh High Court, a former Nizam palace and one of the most impressive buildings in the city; and at Purani Haveli, which now houses the Nizam Museum.
We then proceed on to today’s highlight, the majestic Chowmahalla Palace. Dating back to the mid-18th century the palace exudes Persian, Indo-Saracenic, Rajasthani and European architectural styles. Inside find opulent furniture, jewel encrusted clothes, handsome carpets, antique cars and several unique items including an old-fashioned typewriter and a clock with a miniature dancing band.
